Despite the cutbacks in libraries across the the United Kingdom, these latest figures released by PLR (Public Lending Right) show what a vital service libraries provide. As an author I have reason to be grateful: for every book of mine that is borrowed, I receive 7.82p. That might not seem like much, but for the bestselling authors who make the top ten, this is another income stream. And we could all do with one of those, couldn’t we?
